Fiddleback. Limited time offer. These are the common battery type as they were called back in the early teens and used an operator at central to signal. You would merely lift up on the receiver and hear the operator offer to provide you service. There was no need for a magneto. WE could install one for $25; but then it would not be original. This was a design that was first used when the central office provided the power for the phones. Up until this time most phones required batteries for operation. With the advent of the common battery type phone it was no longer necessary for batteries to be installed in the individual phones. The phones were less expensive to produce because they didn't require a battery box. Operation was quite simple, all you did was pick up the receiver and the operator would come on line to connect you with who you wished to converse.
